Kiyo Tanaka

Born in Kanagawa, Japan, Kiyo Tanaka is a children’s book author and illustrator. She studied oil painting and printmaking at Tama Art University in Tokyo and continues to produce and exhibit prints throughout Japan. Her illustrations have been selected for exhibition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the Bratislava Biennial of Illustrations. In 2019, she won a Purple Island Award at the Nami Concours in South Korea for her illustrations for The Little One, which also received a Japan Picture Book Award Grand Prize in 2020.
