Sarah Verroken

Sarah Verroken is a graphic designer and illustrator. She graduated from university in 2006 with a Master's Degree in the Visual Arts and Illustration. For her Master's thesis, she created the picture book Feeling Sad, published in the U.S. by Enchanted Lion Books.Born in Belgium in 1982, Sarah began her career as an artist by drawing turtles, or rather a very specific turtle, as soon as she realized that a pencil wasn't only a projectile. At 20, a whole new episode began with the discovery that there was more to picture making than turtles. In 2007, Sarah moved to New Zealand. Surrounded by beautiful birds and stunning landscapes, Sarah reports being constantly inspired. Her favorite techniques include woodcut and Photoshop, along with everything else that can leave an impression on a piece of paper. She loves to experiment and to discover new ways to render the animals and adventures constantly unfurling inside her head.
